X-Plane has always been known for continuously adding new features and updates to the product.

The Developers – Laminar Research – keep adding new features and making it better and better. One such feature in the next update due soon  (10.10) is a new user interface that makes jumping into an aircraft quick and easy.

The New Z-Plane 10 user interface.

X-Plane has previously been criticised for being complex and difficult to set up and the developers have taken notice of user comments. The new update will provide a quick flight interface where you select aircraft, weather, time and location all on the same screen before launching the simulation.  This means you can be up and flying in a few clicks.

Also to be added in a further update being developed is World Editor 2. This will allow you to drag and drop 3D buildings live in the sim, letting you build replicas of your favourite airports. Although not the same as custom built airports where new textures are used to exactly match real world buildings, using library objects does mean you can populate the entire world with buildings similar to the real world type and locations backed up with your knowledge of the airport layout from real world experience or airport charts you may have. A simple text file is uploaded to the X-Plane server and shared so that all users get the benefit of updating and populating the world airports whenever they select to update X-Plane.

These features will be available as free updates to X-Plane 10 Global Edition.

Laminar Research have also just released a new official video which you can see here.
